We offer an education that is rooted in traditional, family values and imbued with a spirit of tolerance and respect for the individual. Aspirations and expectations are high and our pupils respond accordingly but each child is valued for what he or she brings to the wider school and Minster community.
Children are prepared for entry to senior schools at 13+ and our record of achievement is an enviable one with many of our pupils achieving scholarships to senior schools for their academic, musical, artistic and sporting excellence. All of this is achieved with a completely mixed-ability intake, but life at the Minster School is an enriching experience that goes far beyond academic work. We aim to produce pupils who are rounded individuals, both culturally and emotionally, with every child being valued for what they bring to the school community. There is a wide range of cultural and sporting activities, individual and group, available to pupils both during and after the school day and most exploit these opportunities to the full. Being musical is not a requirement of the school but, in a place which lives and breathes music, most children feel inspired to participate. With more than 90 percent of pupils receiving individual tuition - music making is almost universal. If you are interested in your son or daughter becoming a chorister please contact the school and we will be happy to help you through the process.
If what you see here makes you want to find out more, contact us to arrange a visit. A school is not just a collection of buildings. To really capture the essence of the school you need to meet the staff and pupils who, together, form this very special place.
